Spooky Season: Werewolves!

I found several stories from legends about the origins of werewolves. They are not for the faint of heart so my summaries are very brief.

The legend of the werewolf dates back to Greek Mythology in the Legend of Lycaon. The legend says that Lycaon angered Zeus when he served him a meal with the remains of a sacrificed boy and turned both Lycaon and his sons into wolves.

In the 16th century there were several so-called werewolves who were serial killers. In each of the stories a man viciously murdered children and then were accused of being monsters before being put to death.

Many werewolf stories are probably the ones you’re familiar with where a shapeshifter is human except during a full moon when they turn into wolves.

Vampires and Werewolves in Shifter Academy

Where are my Shifter Academy readers? It’s been a while since a Shifter Academy book has released, but in our 20+ book universe we have both vampires and werewolves.

In my Frost Boarding House trilogy, vampires are a major threat to Camilla and her family and affects someone very close to her in a personal way. Werewolves aren’t as prominent to the plot (although a bear shifter shows up in Frigid, book 1). But when the boarding house is turned into a school for shifters, there is a minor character who turns into a wolf.

In the Siren Prophecy – the trilogy I co-wrote with Jesse Booth, Angel Leya, Alessandra Jay and Tricia Barr – wolves and vampires are more common.

And in the Reclaim Trilogy I co-wrote with Jesse Booth, Leif Villers is one of the main characters and he is a vampire. For the romantics out there, the Reclaim Trilogy was a passion project for both Jesse and I to finally see Leif and Gemma get their happy ending after everything they went through in the ten books that tells Leif’s story.
