Do you make New Years Resolutions?
I sat down and listed all of my goals for the year (including my release schedule plan) and for the first time, I set a reading goal.
I'm sure you're thinking: “WHAT?! You're an author and you've never set a reading goal?”
Not that I remember, anyway.
I guess I always felt like reading was a luxury or something I did on my downtime, like watching a movie with the family, but reading is important to improve in my writing so I'm making it a priority. I'm starting with a low number because 2020 was not a good reading year for me.
My goal is to read 25 books in 2021. So a little more than 2 books a month.
Do you have a 2021 goal?
We're finally getting settled after the big move and gearing up for the holiday. I've also been working long and hard to get a certain book finished.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for me and mine.
After 13 years of living in the same house – the same house my mom lived in from the time she was a teenager until she married my dad, and my grandmother lived in until she died, which we purchased several years later – we decided to sell and move.
And it happened FAST. We made the decision on October 15th and between then and now, we've sold our house, bought a new one and MOVED.
We have a few last minute things to take care of at the old house this week, then we're handing over the keys to the new owners. It's so surreal and strange, especially for my kids since they've never lived anywhere different.
I had some amazing built-in bookshelves that were built by my grandfather when he and my grandmother lived in the house. I'm sure going to miss them! (And many other things, of course)
But now I have a BOOK to finish!!
We're still stuck in this pandemic. The state I live in has just rolled more restrictions so we can only be with those within our own household, which might mean Thanksgiving is cancelled or will happen via Zoom.
Our son is also in quarantine for 14 days because one of his classmates tested positive for Covid.
BUT… we sold our house yesterday, we close on our new house Monday and will be moving within the next couple of weeks! We’re downsizing, which isn’t ideal, but I feel really good about this new chapter we’re headed into and am anxious to get moved and settled.

Last week my hubby had a few days off, so one afternoon we took the kids to a farm that sells pumpkins and has all kinds of fun activities. There was a zipline and a slide made out of PVC pipe, they had a barrel train pulled by a tractor and huge pipes to race in.
It was the perfect family autumn activity!

I blinked and the month was gone! It's been a crazy month of changes in school board decisions and my kids attending school in-person four days a week. They love going four days (my middle boy is exhausted because its his first year for all day school, but he loves it too). I'm closely watching the number of Covid cases at my kids school, and so far there have been zero cases. I'm hoping and praying it stays that way!

I have some exciting news to share! Jesse Booth and I have been working on the Reclaim series for over a year and it's finally finished! We still have to finish up edits, but all three books are written!
It's such a good feeling to compete a project you've put so much time and effort into!
